Emergency Procedures

Further to today's meeting with Security Services here are some guidelines when dealing with security concerns.

I made an emergency contacts sheet and put it in the front of the ref desk binder. In addition to contact info for Security, it also has their location and hours info, as well as contact info for McGill Urgent Care Clinic or other clinics near McGill for medical situations.

GENERAL SECURITY GUIDELINES

1) If there is a security or medical emergency that you can't wait 10-15 minutes for a response call 911.

2) If you can wait 10-15 minutes call the McGill Emergency number at 3000.

3) If it's not an emergency, but you need to report something to Security call their office at 4556

4) Their lost and found can be contacted at 4556.

5) McGill Security offers verbal intervention courses to front line staff, see their web site for details.

Resource Comparison Tool

I saw a message posted to a listserv about a online tool to compare databases. It might be useful to us in the future. This site allows you to compare two databases in order to see what overlap there in terms of titles covered/dates/full-text. For example you can compare ABI Global to BSP if you want. This is the link
